Alex Darby is an interdisciplinary cultural strategist, artist, and arts exec working at the intersection of art, tech, and culture. Driven by interdisciplinary modes of practice, her projects range from running businesses and nonprofits, to producing new media artworks and exhibitions, to leading community programs and initiatives.

Darby is the the founder of DARBY STUDIOS, a strategic consulting studio offering executive advisory services to startups, nonprofits and cultural orgs, and The Hybrid Studio, a creative consultancy and cultural ecosystem for artists and art production. Creative projects traverse installation, new media, technology, performance, and critical inquiry and are informed by Darby’s own speculative art practice.

Darby is deeply passionate about collective models of governance and collaboration, the role of technology in art and business, and the belief that entrepreneurship is for all. Her work is rooted in a desire to foster creative collaboration and her unique application of entrepreneurial thinking to creative practice.

Darby has worked for institutions such as NEW INC, The Biennale of Sydney, Zebras Unite, NYC Jewelry Week, and Nokia Bell Labs and is currently a Mentor-in-Residence for NEW INC’s Y10 Cohort. Her interdisciplinary work as a creative and executive has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Creators Project, WIRED, and Fast Co. Design, and shown at festivals and institutions such as SXSW, Sundance, MoMA, New Museum, NY Live Arts, MANA Contemporary, and the Sydney Biennale.

Darby holds a BVA in Jewelry and Object Design, and an MA in Art Curatorship. She lives and works in NYC & Sydney on Lenape and Gadigal land.
